colours (conclusion) @ Tuesday, Dec. 05, 2006 * 2:28 pm
what receives colour is undoubtedly the eye; what interpretes it the brain. Our world is awash with colours, in shades of infinitely varying degree. It is however, due to the very presence and function of our eyes that allow us to appreciate these colours that adorn our world, for without our eyes, there is no colour, but a permanent black blanket that envelopes our vision.
Some days, certain colours appeal more to one. Like some random saying went roughly, different colours are meant for different moods like different attires for different occasions. Of course, each and everyone of our brains are unique, and it is close to impossible to come to a universal consensus for a classfication of colours for occasions.
Perhaps the best gift tat has been bestowed to humankind would be our ability to integrate wat we see to what we feel. It is someting that is inherent in everyone, but some seem more attuned to it while others are not.
Black
is the coming of darkness, or the dimming of the senses. A familiar sensation everyone find themselves in at night in bed: in a half-sleep limbo. The gradual fading away of the material world, where visions blur and imagination replaces our eyes as the image generator.
Black is enveloping.
Blue
is swishing of the waves, or the chilly undercurrent. Unlike black, blusish hue embellishes the world of solitude, not a world of desensitisation; blue paints a world that will otherwise be devoid of every other colour.
Blue is solitude.
Green
is the wavelike movements of the tree caught in a slight drift, or the tranquil field which calmness belies the activity it harbours. Often thought of as the neutral colour, green is soothing to the eye(my eye specialist says so), and easy on the senses. Green embodies nature as nature most prolly wants it: complexity of life hidden under a simplistic yet calming shade.
Green is natural.
Orange/brown
is the swirling of the lukewarm tea, or the methodical bounce of the basketball. Often considered the first of the passionate colours (albeit the least), orange glows in a comfortable distance and intensity that invites closeness yet at the same time warns against heat.
Orange is warm
Yellow
is the bright shimmering of the sunrays, or the similar glare of the highlighters on our notes. Yellow is playful and joyous, yet little restrained in its carefree roaming of the world, for yellow too serves as a warning sign.
Yellow is cheerful.
Red
is the blazing hot sun in its combusting core, or the relentless flow of scarlet blood. In bits and spurts, red induces fear, anger, passion, love, violence. Perhaps why red is so fascinating would be the multitude of emotions it illicts.
Red is unpredictable
White
is the righteous call of the right, or the unquestioning loyalty to purity. White exists in places, emotions that is uniform in its lack of blemishes. Representing a real-life whiteboard thats free from touches, or a sparkling new paint palette, white exists as a background that would eventually be filled by other colours, eventually losing its own whiteness.
White represents selflessness (in the sense of a lack of self-identity, though the common interpretation also works)
Looking back at the past two years spent of my life (u could say trial version), now at the juncture where one decides "should i activate my copy", there is no room for regret and mistakes. Granted, u pple have painted many colours in many facets of my life that had been sorely devoid of/stripped away/bleached. Intentionally or by coincidence, the artistic artistic flair that presides in everyone here in 7d has made an indelible mark on me. Some more, some less, but all the same, the final product still resembles one that depicts a reason for me to say yes, that life continues.
Thank you all, and gd luck for all ur future endeavours

Mere colour, unspoiled by meaning, and unallied with definite form, can speak to the soul in a thousand different ways.
* Oscar Wilde
"They'll sell you thousands of greens. Veronese green and emerald green and cadmium green and any sort of green you like; but that particular green, never."
Pablo Picasso, 1966.
